The Longest 12 Seconds of Your Life

Adam Magyar – Stainless, 42 Street (excerpt) from Adam Magyar on Vimeo.

While perusing the interwebz, I came across these remarkable videos done by photographer Adam Magyar. Shot from moving subway trains as they pull into stations at 56 times normal speed, he records commuters as they wait on the platform. The footage extends 12 seconds of real time into a surreal experience over 8 minutes long, transforming people into near motionless statues. What is even more impressive than these beautiful studies of humanity, is what went into the making of them. I consider myself somewhat of a perfectionist, relishing in the details, working to get everything just right, but Magyar’s perfectionism is just astonishing. Read more about it here.
